Jonathan Haidt studies how -- and why -- we evolved to be moral. When it comes to politics we may not be as rational as we may think. By understanding more about our moral roots, Haidt’s hope is that we can learn to be civil and open-minded.</p>

Jonathan David Haidt is a social psychologist and Professor of Ethical Leadership at New York University's Stern School of Business. His main areas of study are the psychology of morality and the moral emotions. He has written about how morality is shaped by
emotion and intuition more than by reasoning, and why differing political groups have different notions of right and wrong.</p>
