Saturday, January 7, 2022
2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
at USNH, 700 Hartford Turnpike, in the Social Hall.
Another day has dawned, and as usual, the media is disseminating a
steady stream of misinformation and disinformation. One of the most
notable hate mongers, bigots, and anti-Semites is filling the airwaves
again. No, it's not a current celebrity and politician. It is a Catholic
Priest whose demagogic rhetoric has infected tens of thousands of
Americans. It's not 2022, but the 1930's. His name is Father Charles E.
Coughlin. With the advent of radio in 1920, news and commentary can
travel instantaneously around the world. Along with isolationism and a
bigoted and xenophobic perspective, Coughlin shapes major political and
social opinion through the years of The Great Depression. Join us for
this examination of the forerunners of our current social and political
predicament.
We request that attendees be fully vaccinated. We will have coffee and
any snacks participants might bring to share.
I hope you can join us!
-Carol
